"Saving One Dog Won't Change The World But Surely, The
World Will
Change For That One Dog" ~Author Unknown
PA Shih Tzu Rescue was created by Bob and
Peggy Buehler to complement the nationwide Shih
Tzu Rescue group.  Although we are located in PA
our group has members throughout many states.
We are dedicated volunteers working to help
displaced pets through fostering and adoption.
Welcome To The PA Shih Tzu Rescue!!

We get dogs from a variety of situations including
shelters, owner turn-ins and strays.  We foster dogs
in our home and therefore usually only have one or
two dogs at a time.  In this way we can give each
one the TLC they need as they adjust to a new life
through no fault of their own.

Our mission is to save as many lives as we can! We encourage everyone to consider saving a life rather than
a buying a puppy.  These little dogs know they have been saved and are forever grateful!

Tommy's Story
"...Tommy spent his life in one of Lancaster County's infamous
puppy mills where he lived in an outside crate with no shelter
from the rain or snow.  When the Amish miller was finished with
him, he dropped him off in a cardboard box at a neighbor's home
who happened to be having a garage sale and told them to find a
home for him.

Tommy was dirty, matted, flea infested and had hair missing.
Not surprisingly, he didn't appeal to anyone at the garage sale.
So we got a call asking if we would take him.

When I got him, I started by bathing him and grooming him as he
wagged the whole time, no doubt thrilled for the attention and to
know someone cared about him.

Next stop was the vet to have him examined and neutered.
While he was being neutered the vet called to say there was a
problem, Tommy's jaw was broken.  Because of having been fed
inferior food, his teeth had rotted through the gum and he actually
had a break big enough to put your little finger in.  So the vet
wired his jaws for 6 weeks.
We now had a dog who was neutered, had many teeth pulled and his jaws wired shut.  Though he must have
been in considerable pain, he never stopped wagging.  All you had to do was look in his general direction and
he wagged away!
If you look in both of his pictures, you can see his tail wagging.

Tommy's joy for living after a past with no compassion or care was an inspiration for everyone who met him.
He is now living happy ever-after with his shih tzu friend Scarlett and
his wonderful human mom Donna.  He is
one of the fosters we will never forget.  He reminded us of why we  need to continue saving these dear little
dogs...."
